Tea Party Favorite Herman Cain Joins 2012 GOP Race

Tea Party favorite Herman Cain announced his long-shot presidential candidacy to a raucous crowd in Atlanta Saturday, yelling, “I’m running for president of the United States and I’m not running for second.”

At a rally attended by thousands, the businessman, author and talk radio show host showed he knows how to wow a conservative gathering. The crowd chanted, “Herman, Herman, Herman,” as Cain unleashed the same soaring rhetoric and relentless attacks on President Obama that has created buzz in recent weeks.

Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain to run for president

(Reuters) – Herman Cain, a radio talk show host and former CEO of a chain of pizza parlors, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for president on Saturday.

“We are going to take our country back,” Cain, the former president and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, told thousands of supporters at Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park.

Pawlenty Touts Fiscal Strengths; Says Obama Lacks Courage

In advance of his announcement rally in Des Moines, Iowa Monday, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty hit a few broadcast morning shows to make his case for why he should be the Republican Party’s presidential nominee in 2012.

In each appearance he touted his record on fiscal matters saying it proves that he’s ready to face exploding deficits in Washington.

Gingrich Accuses Obama of ‘Dishonest Scare Tactics,’ Calls for New GOP ‘Contract’ for 2012

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich came out swinging at President Obama in his first TV interview after announcing his candidacy for president, telling Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Obama “should be ashamed of himself” for distorting Republican positions.

“This is not about one person in the Oval Office. This is about millions of Americans deciding that together we can win the future with the right policies leading to the right outcomes,” Gingrich said. “And then we have to … win the argument that President Obama has the wrong policies, and they lead to the wrong outcomes.”
